Offered for adoption is an older vintage bone & bamboo game housed in its traditional original dark wooden box. This lovely little game is ideal for someone wishing to play using either NMJL (National Mah Jong League) or Chinese rules as it has been converted to having 152 tiles.

The tile design is crisp and clear and the paint remains in great condition. The box has all its original corner trim, drawer pulls and both top carrying handles!

The flower tiles are two complete bouquets, each numbered 1-4. One bouquet are "simple" style flowers and the other depicts writing tools and scrolls. The dragons are traditional Chinese characters and the one bamboo is a sitting sparrow style - both are very traditional for the era. The game has "simple" character tiles and indicates this game is likely from the early 1940's.

There are a total of 152 tiles with a bone to bamboo ratio "20/80" - 20% bone and 80% bamboo. 152 tiles means this game has all its original tiles (148 tiles - 144 playing tiles plus 4 original spare blank tiles). I have added 4 matching tiles that have been stickered for use as jokers. I am happy to include 4 additional matching joker stickers if you would like to cover the spare blanks so that all 8 jokers look the same.

Because of the added tiles this game can be played with using National Mah Jong League (NMJL) or traditional Chinese rules - the best of both worlds!

This is a game that is ready for you right out of the box. It has been lovingly played with for years and has many more years of life to offer!
