Offered for adoption is very pretty little bone & bamboo game with the sweetest one bamboo. The carving is delicate and detailed and the tail feathers are beautiful in this stylish set.

There are a gorgeous set of flowers which have a rather modern feel to them despite the age of the game. There are 2 complete bouquets each numbered 1-4. If you look closely in one of the #2 flowers you can just spot that there is actually a little swallow flying past the flower.

In addition to the wonderful one bamboo all the remaining bamboo tiles are the sought after column style. Check out the crisp design of the one circle and the delicacy of the remaing circle tiles. Because of the "complex" style character tiles this game is likely from the late 1940's perhaps very early 1950"s.

The game is housed in its original rosewood box - all the brass corner trim is in place and the top two carrying handles are sturdy and secure. Note: there are three small pull rings missing from three of the drawers.

There are a total of 152 tiles with a bone to bamboo ratio "50/50" - 50% bone and 50% bamboo. 152 tiles means this game has all its original tiles (144 playing tiles). Added to these 144 tiles are 8 matching tiles that have been stickered for use as jokers. Because of the added tiles this game can be played with using National Mah Jong League (NMJL) or traditional Chinese rules - the best of both worlds!

I have had many happy hours of playing time with this game and I hope someone will love and play with it as much as I have. With the addition of the extra tiles this game can be played with right out of the box - whatever your style of play.
