Description: I have been adopted and now have a new home. MET was based in New York and was known to have manufacturered 3 styles of Bakelite games. The Peacock, Parrot and Perching Pheasant. This a beautiful little MET PEACOCK burgundy enrobed game - the Peacock style being the most popular and least available of the MET games. Enrobed tiles are a style of tile where the colour (in this case burgundy) is wrapped (enrobed) around the edge of the tiles. The tiles are absolutely fabulous to play with. This game is highly popular with players and collectors alike. This game is from the late 1940's or possibly early 1950's. It would have originally had 148 tiles. Additional MET enrobed flowers have been added to this game to make it playable using NMJL rules. The tiles in this game are fantastic. They are a smooth shiny butterscotch Bakelite wrapped in a band of burgundy. Take a look at the picures of the backs to see how well they match. There are 8 flowers and 8 additional flower tiles that can be used as jokers. The game is ready for NMJL play out of the box. The racks are made from a swirled butterscotch Bakelite with matching burgundy Bakelite E's. The Bakelite E's are the same colour as the enrobed edge of the tiles. Tokens and a pair of dice are included. The game is in its original MET case with the manufacturer's label still intact. The handle is strong Bakelite and in great shape. This game is quite beautiful ... |
