Description: I have been adopted and now have a lovely new home! I do hope someone might take this game into their home and love it. Perhaps someone wants to start off with their first vintage game or maybe add a game to their growing collection - they are so much more fun to play with than the brand new games. MET was based in New York and was known to have manufactured 3 styles of Bakelite games. The Peacock, Parrot and Perching Pheasant. This particular style is the Parrot game. The game is from the early 1950's. It would have originally had 146 tiles. 144 playing tiles and 2 spare tiles. I have actually managed to put together 16 flowers for this game. With a total of 152 tiles it has everything to make it playable using NMJL (National Mah Jong League) rules as well as traditional Chinese rules. There are 16 flowers/occupation tiles - 4 bouquets numbered 1-4. The tiles are a fantastic rich butterscotch color. The racks are made from beautiful swirled Bakelite and are in burgundy, lemon, minty green and dark blue/green. The racks have matching lemon/butterscotch Bakelite E's. All the flippies are working nicely. The case is in great condition - remarkably little wear and tear on the outside and its original bakelite handle. The clasps all work and the case is strong and secure. No matter the style of game you play (Chinese or NMJL) this game is ready for play right out of the box ! Want to adopt me???
