Description: I have been adopted and now have a new home. Piroxloid was originally based on 5th Avenue in New York and was involved in the import of Mah Jong games primarily made of solid french ivory, french ivory & wood and bone & bamboo. They also imported bakelite games and the example above is an early one from the late 1930's in 2-tone burgundy. The original game would have had 146 tiles but I have found additional Piroxloid tiles to add to this game to make it playable using NMJL rules. The case for this game is in particularly good condition and the leather handle looks almost unused. I love the colour of the racks - a rich deep burgundy swirled Bakelite. The game comes with 2 natural bouquets of flowers each set numbered 1-4 and 8 extra stickered tiles so this game is ready for play. I personally think that Piroxloid games look way better in person than in photos ... we have played many games with this beauty and the tiles have a lovely feel to them !
