Description: I have been adopted and now have a new home. This Royal game has tiles that are enveloped around the edges in a colour and are known as an enrobed game. This style of game is a favourite amongst serious players and collectors. The tiles are fabulous to play with. Royal made two styles of games, the soaring sparrow style and the picture frame style - this game is the latter style and probably the more popular of the two styles. The game is from the late 1940's or possibly early 1950's. It would have originally had 146 tiles. Additional Royal enrobed flowers have been added to this game to make it playable using NMJL rules. The tiles in this game are fantastic. They are a smooth shiny butterscotch Bakelite wrapped in a band of burgundy. Take a look at the pictures of the backs to see how well they match. There are 8 flowers and 8 additional flower tiles that have been stickered so they can be used as jokers. The game is ready for NMJL play out of the box. The racks are made from a swirled Bakelite in burgundy, lemon, deep blue/green and butterscotch with matching butterscotch Bakelite E's. The case is original and has a strong Bakelite handle. The lining is the original fabric, please note a little bit of the fabric is parting from the interior of the case in the top left corner (see picture 4 and 5 above).
